Spotify Technology S.A. released its results for the third quarter of 2026 on October 22, with a live Q&A webcast hosted by Co-CEOs Alex Norström and Gustav Söderström and CFO Christian Luiga. The company's shareholder materials describe a platform of 788 million users, including 306 million subscribers, across 184 markets, carrying more than 100 million tracks, 8 million podcast titles and 800,000 audiobooks in select markets. Trade coverage of the results reported revenue up 16% year over year and premium subscribers up 9% in the quarter.
The podcast figures matter beyond the headline user count. Eight million podcast titles is the supply side of a discovery problem every creator on the platform feels, and Spotify told investors this year that podcasts are in their second year of profitability, with growth accelerating across its roles as a consumer platform, a publisher and a monetisation toolset for creators.
For podcasters, the quarter underlines the scale of the shelf they compete on and why platform programmes, video formats and off-platform audience ownership keep gaining importance: distribution on the largest audio platform is table stakes, not a growth strategy by itself.
