The first findings from The Podcast Study 2026 — conducted by Point-To-Point Marketing and Strategic Solutions Research and presented in a webinar led by Point-To-Point CEO Tim Bronsil and Strategic Solutions partner Hal Rood — put hard numbers on host loyalty. Among 1,205 U.S. podcast consumers surveyed, balanced to the latest U.S. Census, 82% said the host is either a major part of or the only reason they listen to their favorite podcast. Fifty-six percent said they would definitely stop listening or seriously consider stopping if the host left permanently; by contrast, 78% would keep listening if the host were merely on vacation.
The advertising data is the money slide for sponsors: 57% said they are more likely to remember a brand after hearing it endorsed by a podcast host, 55% said they are more likely to notice advertising from that brand again, and 40% said they were highly likely or likely to try or buy a product after the host personally read and endorsed the ad — versus 27% for a prerecorded advertisement not read by the host, representing a 48% relative increase in reported influence for the host-read execution.
The research was sponsored by Crooked Media, NPR and PRX — all networks that benefit from pro-host findings, a relationship worth noting when weighing the results. The figures are survey self-reports, not observed purchase data.
