The SXSW 2027 Podcast Festival runs March 17–20 in downtown Austin, Texas, as a new dedicated pillar of South by Southwest — standing alongside Innovation, Film & TV, Music and Comedy. The festival was announced in August 2026 and features live tapings and conversations with podcast industry leaders.
This is arguably the most structurally significant event news in podcasting's calendar: SXSW elevating podcasts to a core pillar puts the medium on the same institutional footing as film and music at one of the world's defining creative gatherings. Programming is open to all SXSW badgeholders, which makes it accessible to indie podcasters as well as platforms, brands and marketers.
